This sign can be faintly seen on the wall of the Old Rome Block in Gardner, MA on 40 Parker Street and the former site of the Orpheum Theater. Early in 1910 it became the home of Burns Cafe. Frank M. Burns and Michael Vaughn were the owners. The sign was painted before the Orpheum Theater was built and it was covered up in 1912. When the Theater was demolished, the sign was givn' a new life. Using some digital and photographic forensics, I was able to reproduce the original sign as close as possible with what fragments remain. In the day, as many as 2 or 3 different painters would work on the signs. Thus the organic look of the letterforms.
